How Broccoli Can Help Ease Your Constipation
Is constant constipation ruining your summer? If so, then you may need to include more broccoli in your diet. Here’s why.
How Broccoli Can Help Ease Your Stomach Troubles
As we try to find various ways to cool down under the scorching heat of the summer, the last thing we want on our plate is an upset and constipated tummy, which can quickly turn to us spending hours in the toilet trying to relieve ourselves but ultimately failing.
Of course, there are many reasons as to why you are constipated. Chances are, it’s because of lack of exercise, eating junk food and a generally unhealthy diet. Trust us, that extra bar of chocolate isn’t doing you any good and you’re only going to prolong the pain the more you eat and don’t do anything about it.
Fortunately, your diet can take away constipation as fast as it brought it in the first place. All you literally have to do is to reform it with healthy foods that can help you finish your business more easily, so to speak. And while there are many healthy food choices that can help relieve your constipation, this time we’ll be shining the spotlight on a certain vegetable: the broccoli. But why?
It’s quite simple, really. This is because the usual unassuming broccoli is actually full of dietary fiber, which is excellent for those who are suffering from any digestive problems. A plant-based type of carbohydrate that our body literally is unable to digest, fiber can help our constipation problems by simply adding bulk to stool, making for an easier digestion process and letting it pass through intestines easier. Additionally, fiber also helps you feel full for longer, which of course, stops you from overeating.
But it doesn’t stop there, broccoli is also filled with antibacterial, phytochemical and antioxidants properties that can keep all sorts of bacterial infections and diseases at bay. The vegetable itself is also a great source of vitamin C, which plays a large role in making sure that our immune system and health is up to par.
