Cadillac Lyriq EV teaser shows more car, reveal August debut date

By on June 26, 2020 0 41 Views

The marque may show off just a concept, but better four months late than never

The Cadillac Lyriq EV has finally been given a debut date, after the original reveal was delayed due to coronavirus: August 6.

The new reveal date comes four months after the crossover was first supposed to be shown to the public.

The Lyriq is the first fully electric vehicle from luxury brand Cadillac, and is set for production in 2021 as a 2022-model-year car.

Along with the announcement came a little teaser trailer, showcasing a whole bunch of mumbo-jumno about birds or something, and two or three shots of the actual vehicle.

We can see the grille is a solid unit with LED lights embedded inside; while the door panel features wood trim (is that sustainable, Cadillac?) with embedded LEDs.

Cadillac has remained silent on the important details of the vehicle so far, such as powertrain, battery capacity, price, or performance, but we expect to know all about it on the concept reveal date.

The video ends with “Watch the show car debut August 6, 2020,” which is sort of confusing. So far we’ve only been shown renderings of the vehicle, but they’ve been pretty well fleshed-out. The coronavirus pandemic didn’t allow for Cadillac to reveal the concept in the flesh, so this will likely be a reveal of that vehicle, and not a full production model.
