Genesis’ first-ever SUV will start at north of $60,000 in Canada
Genesis has announced pricing for its first-ever SUV, the GV80, which will start at $64,500 when it goes on sale in Canada in fall 2020. The automaker is currently accepting fully-refundable $1,000 deposits.
It will follow the company’s policy of an all-inclusive, no-haggle price, which includes scheduled maintenance, concierge services, connected services, and map updates for five years or 100,000 km.
The GV80 midsize sport-ute starts out as the 2.5T Select at $64,500; or the 2.5T Advanced at $70,000, both with a turbocharged 2.5L four-cylinder engine making 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque.
The step up is the GV80 3.5T Advanced at $80,000; and 3.5T Prestige at $85,000, both with a twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 making 375 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque.
Both engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission. While U.S. buyers can opt for rear-wheel-drive, all models sold in Canada will use all-wheel-drive. The 2.5T models hold five occupants, while the 3.5T models add third-row seating for seven.
Standard features include a panoramic sunroof, 14.5-inch centre touchscreen, wireless charging, heated front and rear seats, power liftgate, and driver assistance and safety features. Depending on the trim level, additional goodies will include a head-up display, ventilated seats, 21-speaker Lexicon audio system, self-parking feature, and an electronically-controlled suspension with a camera that watches the road in advance for rough spots.
Genesis said the GV80 will also include Smart Cruise Control with Machine Learning, a world-first that uses artificial intelligence to learn the driving characteristics of its drivers, and then operate its cruise control in the same way those people would drive the vehicle themselves.
As with other Genesis models, the GV80 can be purchased almost entirely online, including configuration, credit application, and trade-in appraisal, with the vehicle delivered to the door.
