Buick’s Avenir trim adds style to the new 2021 Envision
SUV boasts mesh grille, unique wheels and hot colours when top spec is ordered
Buick unveiled the Avenir-trim 2021 Envision in China early June, giving us our first good look at the range-topping model.
When the new vehicle was first unveiled, it was shown only in the Essence trim, although an Avenir model was said to be coming. These new photos show us what the top-of-the-line model will look like, and we must say, it looks quite good.
The Avenir trim features a unique signature mesh grille and a unique set of wheels. Body-coloured trim around the wheel wells replaces the previously grey-coloured plastic. The Avenir trim will also feature exclusive colors and some unique interior trim and materials, but we won’t know what those look like until we get official North American images.
The Envision was known as the Enspire during development, and rides on the same platform as the Cadillac XT4. The 2021 model seeks to add a more upscale offering to Buick’s lineup than its predecessor did, and the Avenir trim just kicks it up another notch.
Under the hood of the Envision is a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder that produces 237 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. The vehicle sends power to the front wheels as standard, through a nine-speed automatic transmission; with all-wheel-drive as an extra-cost option.
Production for the 2021 Envision will take place at the SAIC-GM Jinqiao South plant in China for both North America and China.
